Join us as we celebrate the annual migration of Sandhill Cranes through western Colorado.  We will be at Crane Point or along the causeway on the north side of Fruitgrowers Reservoir beginning at 9:00 a.m. to welcome visitors, provide information about cranes.  We will have spotting scopes set up for crane viewing and BCAS members who will pass on information about the cranes and other birds that we will see.  The cranes typically arrive the night before and lift off for their journey northward between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. each morning, so make sure to arrive in time to view them in the nearby fields and to enjoy their raucous lift off.  Cranes typically arrive at the reservoir around 5:00 p.m. the evenings before from Monte Vista, in case you are in the area in the late afternoon.  Stacy's on Main Street in Cedaredge will have coffee and baked goods for sale at the reservoir on Saturday and Sunday.  On Saturday, a free lunch will be held at the Hart's Basin Ranch, just north of the reservoir.  This is the second year they have held the event, and it is yummy.  The lunch is sponsored by Western States Ranches.  More details on the lunch are forthcoming.
