Monitoring of Peregrine Falcons, Eagles, Great Blue Herons and Black Swifts

Theresa Childers, Wildlife Biologist with the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and Curecanti National Recreation Area, will talk about the National Park Service's bird monitoring program. She will focus on many decades of Peregrine Falcon nests and will also highlight Eagle nest monitoring and information about a Great Blue Heron rookery and a Black Swift colony. Theresa will talk about how park personnel determine nest and fledgling success and how to protect these important migratory bird nesting areas. Her program will be held at the Montrose Field House at the corner of Rio Grande and Colorado Avenue (North 9th St.) in Montrose starting at 7:00 p.m.
